Using our site

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

We have added the Recite Me web accessibility and language toolbar to our website to make it accessible and inclusive for as many people as possible. Recite Me is innovative cloud-based software that lets visitors to our website view and use it in the way that works best for them.

It helps the one in five people in the UK who have a disability, including those with common conditions like sight loss and dyslexia, to access this website in the way that suits them best.
It also meets the needs of the one in ten people in the UK who do not speak English as their first language, by being able to translate our web content into over 100 different languages.

We also provide assistive technology, enabling all websites visitors to customise their experience through a range of option to suit their online accessibility and language needs.
The Recite Me toolbar provides text to speech functionality, fully customisable styling features, reading aids and a translation tool with over 100 languages, including 35 text to speech voices and many other features.

How does Recite Me help me access this website?

Recite Me helps people to access our website to do the things they need to do, like find information about how to access our service by making complaints, access publications and read news.

The Recite Me toolbar has a unique range of functions. You can use it to:

• Have the text on our website read aloud (including PDFs).
• Download the text as an MP3 file to play it where and when it suits you.
• Customise background colour.
• Translate text into more than 100 different languages.
• Access a fully integrated dictionary and thesaurus.
• Modify the font, colours, line height or spacing of text.
• Change contrast levels.
• Zoom in up to 200% without text spilling off the screen.
• The text will reflow in a single column when you change the size of your browser window.
• Navigate the website using just a keyboard.

• We do not provide audio descriptions for videos.
• Third-party content and functionality: we may make use of third-party resources that embed content in our website. Wherever possible we will ensure these are conformant.

Non-accessible Content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Known elements within the website make difficult for assistive technology to convey information successfully:

• On the job description pages, the section "Email me jobs like this" is not readable by Recite Me software. We are working to fix this.
• The website page "CSR & Sustainability" has installed third party widgets from the website B1G1; these widgets cannot be read by the Recite Me Software. Specifically:
  • SGD's images.
  • Our giving impacts to date feed.
  • Impacts Map.
• The website page "Podcast" has installed third party podcast widgets that cannot be read by the Recite Me Software:
  • Apple Podcasts
  • Libsyn
• Footer Social Media buttons cannot be read by the Recite Me Software.
•  Home page header carousel images are not read by the Recite Me Software.
