Our clients are a luxury Student Accommodation provider with sites based across, England, Scotland, Wales and Europe. With exciting growth plans, this is an excellent opportunity to join them.
We are seeking a Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to work in this field-based position, you will be reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Facilities and will be responsible for the duties listed below in the sites based in the South of England
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that new site acquisitions have scheduled risk assessments prior to opening
- Conduct site condition surveys and report back to Head of Safety & Facilities on their findings
- Liaise with mobilisation team on new site acquisitions
- Develop Health and Safety Plans
- Provide a comprehensive advisory service on safety issues to all employees
- Manage the process to ensure all employees undertake annual safety training (web based).
- Assist in conducting induction training and annual building managers awareness training nationally
- Ensure that water risk assessments are scheduled biannually and combined health and safety / fire risk assessments for all existing sites as appropriate
- Review risk assessment findings to ensure findings are managed in an appropriate timescale and provide support to site employees in doing so.
- Ensure Accommodation Managers create Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPS).
- Undertake annual audits on all sites and provide reports through safety management system and making applicable heads of operations aware of the findings
- Attend project/client meetings for new/existing schemes where required
- Prepare client reports as and when required in the format agreed by the client
- Assist the Head of Health, Safety & Facilities in overseeing the contractor appraisal / safety passport process.
- Assist in updating all applicable company safety policies and ensure these are implemented across all sites
- Undertake site spot checks to identify compliance/non-compliance and provide recommendations/programme of action.
- Promote an enthusiastic Safety culture that delivers positive commitment to and engages all employees in continuous improvement of safety performance.
- Assist with the evaluation and implementation of documentation.
- Report any immediate safety/facilities concerns to the Head of Health, Safety & Facilities.
- Assist in managing the arrangements for incident, accident and statutory inspections and enquiries, agreeing and implementing necessary changes.
- Ensure accidents/incidents if required are investigated, correctly documented and reported and that trends are documented and reported via the online accident / incident reporting system.
- Assist in Identifying any new areas / employees where training may be necessary
- Management of all contracts for the business operating company, i.e. lifts, etc for all buildings and portfolios with the exception of Utilities contracts - gas, electricity and water.
- Assist with the preparation of tender information for new business opportunities together with appropriate prices.
- Assist with sites based in the North if required
- Meet with heads of operations quarterly in your region to identify any issues or areas of support
- Produce quarterly progress report to the Head of Health, Safety & Facilities in a pre-agreed format
- The above does not limit your duties and the company may require you from time to time to undertake any work within your capabilities and capacity.
For this position we are seeking the following skills & attributes:
- Knowledge of building health & safety issues
- Facilities Management background
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Training experience
- Knowledge of Behavioural Safety programmes
- Current clean driving licence and car - essential
- Knowledge of ISO 18001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 9001
- ideally has attained NEBOSH General certificate
