Description

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Electrical Engineer with both experience as an electrical engineer and recent consulting experience. The consultant electrical engineer will be working with clients across the design phase of construction related works and energy efficiency based projects so will need to be able to consult with clients around things to consider in working towards various electrical engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in electrical engineering and have experience of working for a consulting business as a consultant electrical engineer. We will also consider consultant engineers who may be qualified by experience as long as they have the relevant skills related to this role.


This is not a hands on / on-the-tools type engineering role but one of consulting with and managing client relationships as they interface with contractors/contracting firms to deliver on their requirements. Ensuring they receive expert advice and the right solutions that meet their budgets.


The electrical engineer will be required develop electrical solutions for clients as part of overall low-carbon systems, from initial analysis through feasibility study to design development, contractor tendering and technical oversight of installations. This would typically involve the following key tasks:


· Establishing the distribution network operator (DNO) infrastructure capacity and options for enhancement.


· Establishing the existing site infrastructure and demand.


· Determining the electrical support required for other low-carbon technologies, e.g. heating and transport and identifying options for providing this support, including renewable generation.


· Contributing to business case analysis of the options.


· Fully developing the preferred option, identifying suitable products and creating tender packages to select contractors.


· Providing technical support to the project manager implementing the solution and longer term review and support of the solution for the client.


This is a role for an experienced electrical engineer who has a number of years’ experience in a relevant engineering industry. This role will involve developing electrical solutions and architecture across several studies simultaneously and providing support as required to project managers working on installation projects. The selected candidate will not necessarily be expected to have detailed knowledge about all low-carbon electrical solutions and will be given the opportunity to learn about them as part of the role.


Secondary Roles. The Electrical Engineer may support the overall company effort in the following functions.


· Presentation of technical options and solutions to clients.


· Identification of further opportunities with existing clients.


· Continuous analysis of renewables/low-carbon technologies and other energy efficiency measures, including costs and potential subsidies, to ensure that we are offering our clients the best options and are prepared for new options as they become viable.


· Involvement in the development of the Zero Carbon Schools Limited metering and monitoring business.
