Group level Financial Accountant with Consolidation accounting experience required for major publishing organisation.
With ownership of the consolidated month end results, annual forecasts and budgets, taxation, as well as producing all statutory reporting requirements for the group. The role will maintain control of all group reporting; ensure compliance on taxation matters; and provide timely and accurate reporting to various stakeholders of the business, including the Group Finance Director, the Parent Company and other Board members.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background covering statutory reporting, month end consolidation accounting, cash reporting and VAT Returns for UK and European Entities (UK, Irish, German and French). Good knowledge of IFRS and ideally some experience of leading or supervising 1-3 employees before.
Ideal background/profile:
- Technically strong accountant, with proven experience
- Good understanding of and ability to apply IFRS accounting standards.
- Understanding of financial reporting and processes in a complex business environment
- Good knowledge of consolidation systems (Tagetik beneficial)
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel data manipulation skills
- Ability to understand and explain complicated concepts
- Understanding of consolidations
- Ability to deliver to tight deadlines
- Inquisitive, eager to learn with a willingness to gain and use practical knowledge and understanding of issues affecting the business where required
The role will lead a team of three financial accountants. Two of these are part qualified accountants (ACCA) and the other is an exam qualified accountant working to become time qualified.
There is some scope to drive continuous improvement to some aspects of the statutory accounts process and VAT elements of the role, however there have been lots of improvements to systems and workflows recently that have created a great environment for someone to make a real impact.
