Technical Sales Consultant
The Technical Sales Consultant will be responsible for supporting the Technical Commercial and Bid Management Team in the development and acquisition of customer accounts through developing and selling multiple products/services from customer requirements and existing ideas, throughout the Broader Public Sector and Defence markets. The focus will be on Government Security Classifications up to Top Secret.
Responsibilities:
Sales Engagement
- Support in the identification and qualification of service opportunities to ensure that they fall within the deliverable capabilities of the Company by using considerable judgment to define solutions and seeks guidance on complex problems.
- Identifying and conceptualising the scope of service in accordance with customer requirements.
- Shape a solution that is right for the customer with the right technology, at the right price point and with the appropriate risk profile.
- Translating technical capabilities of a products or services into end user/customer business benefits for use in collateral and sales activities. Managing and assisting in the delivery of customer demonstrations of products and services.
- Understanding the customer’s future requirements, identifying and filling product gaps and generating new ideas that will grow market share, improve customer experience and drive quick and profitable growth.
Bid Support
- Develop compelling propositions for clients, including writing proposals and contracting those proposals with clients.
- Closely coordinating with sales support, bid support and service resources to align product/service design with customers’ business requirements.
- Contribute to and assist with the creation of Bid documentation, proposals and presentations for use in sales activities.
- Apply methodology, reusable assets, and previous work experience to deliver consistently high-quality work.
Internal Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal business stakeholders and Service Design teams to ensure a smooth flow of information between Operations and Sales. Ensuring that all new services and design documentation are successfully handed over to the Operations teams to ensure a smooth transition of service.
Desirable Qualifications:
- 12 months (or more) work experience in an IT/Managed Hosting/Cloud setting obtaining/utilising any of the following disciplines -
- ITIL v4 Foundation
- Service Operations Toolsets (JIRA, Confluence etc.)
- Virtualisation (VMware etc.)
- Vendor-specific disciplines (Palo Alto, Dell, Nutanix, Cisco etc.)
- SIEM Tooling
- Security / Encryption / Networking Methods (MFA, VPN, Zero Trust etc.)
- Basic knowledge or awareness of Microsoft technologies including Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Server (2012/2016/2019) and consumer operating systems (Windows 7/10/11)
- Basic knowledge or awareness AWS technologies, focusing on AWS Service offerings
- Understanding of the conceptualizing of solutions incorporating bare metal, cloud and virtualised infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 12 months of experience working in a service management, engineering or delivery role and/or pre-sales equivalent in a managed services environment.
- Excellent willingness to learn and develop knowledge and skillsets across a broad range of both technologies and business/industry disciplines
- Initiative and pro-activity, matched by an ability to be a strong member of a team.
- Ability to interact with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Currently hold SC or DV clearance or have the ability to pass such clearance under HMG’s UK Vetting procedures.
