Our client is a fantastic not-for-profit organisation based in Oxfordshire seeking a Regional Finance Manager to join their growing team. Reporting into the Head of Operational Finance, this interesting and varied role will involve providing comprehensive business partnering and therefore support and constructively challenge operations to drive business performance & efficiencies in the region. Two days a week will involve working from the office or travelling with the remainder working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver commercial business partnering service to operations which incorporates proactive review and analysis of the region, facilitates operational decision making and drives improvement in trading performance
- Produce regional management accounts in a timely and accurate manner ensuring they are robust and accurately reflect current trading performance
- Deliver meaningful and insightful commentary which supports the accounts and reflects key business issues
- In conjunction with regional management, produce a rolling risks, issues and opportunities report for review
- Work closely with the Group Finance Manager to ensure alignment between monthly management accounts and statutory accounts, particularly with the organisation's joint ventures
- Regular review of KPI's and management information to identify trends and emerging issues in order that mitigating action can be taken
- Work collaboratively with key business partners and stakeholders to develop successful partnering relationships
- Support in the development and upskilling of managers and administrative staff in financial awareness
- Ensure adoption of best in class accounting practice across the regions, collaborating with peers to agree best practice and drive change
- Provides objective challenge regarding spending plans and takes a proactive role in looking for opportunities to deliver services more efficiently and effectively
- Work with operations to produce realistic but challenging budgets and forecasts as and when required by the organisation
- Support the business in providing greater degrees of financial accountability by providing local coaching and training to improve financial confidence and competence
- Work closely with Accounts Receivable and Credit Control to ensure all income is billed in a timely manner and reflects current agreements with third party bodies
- Work with credit control to resolve any issues with local authority debt or cash allocation
- Ensure delivery of all annual reporting and audit requirements for region, co-ordinating with the requirements and timescales of the Financial Accountant
- Work closely with finance support administrators to review and ensure all financial controls and reconciliations are accurate, up-to-date and completed in line with the organisation's policy
The successful candidate will have the following skills, qualities and experience:
- Recognised Accounting Qualification or in final stages of training
- Previous experience in a medium sized company and management position
- Extensive experience of preparing and presenting monthly management accounts, annual budgets and forecasts
- Demonstrable experience of business partnering and adding commercial value to an organisation
- Training and development of team and non-finance colleagues
