We are currently seeking a Consents Manager to join us on our work on a 10 year capital investment programme involved in managing the risk of flooding, adapting to the challenges of climate change and ensuring sustainable and resilient development in the floodplain.
Role Description
The Consents Lead is the first point of contact for all consent enquiries. The majority of projects across the programme require a level of regulator consent to carry out certain activities. The Consents Lead will ensure that any consents required are applied for and issued on time, while satisfying any requirements.
Close working relationships with consenting bodies, internal project teams and the environment team are required to ensure the right level of information is submitted and that applications are being processed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain relationships with external regulators;
• Coordinate activities of the Consents Team;
• Understanding the stakeholder consents requirements on the programme;
• Deliver a timely and efficient consents process;
• Co-ordination of activities relating to the production of supporting documentation for consents applications, for each project on the programme;
• Review of consents applications and ensure consistency of applications;
• Coordinate pre-application discussions with stakeholders and ensure early identification of possible concerns;
• Work with Environment Team to ensure any environmental considerations are appropriately reflected in consent applications;
• Work internally with Project Managers and Senior Users to ensure consenting requirements are understood and appropriately reflected in programmes and budgets;
• Discharge of consent conditions as required;
• Manage the Consents Tracker and Conditions Tracker and produce statistics as required;
• Attend regular consents and other project meetings to discuss matters relevant to consents delivery and management.
Behavioural Qualities:
We place great emphasis on both written and verbal communication; those that flourish within our organisation are naturally inclined to engage with their colleagues & stakeholders alike and to be proactive in reaching out to others in overcoming hurdles.
In common with many places of work, the project seeks personnel that are professional, positive, open and honest. Additionally, the Consents Lead will need to exhibit the following behavioural traits:
• Ability to see things differently – prepared to question standard approaches in order to manage consenting risks and programme deadlines
• Support and develop – create a local leadership team by delegation, coaching and mentoring
• Decisiveness – makes day-to-day business choices that have commercial implications, knowing when to inform others or ask for support
