EllisKnight are #hiring an experienced #DevOps Engineer to join an amazing tech growth business that operates within the hospitality sector.
This will be a remote working role (UK only) with occasional trips to the head office in Buckinghamshire. Providing any successful hire the flexibility of working remotely with the value and benefit of having an office for team, colleague and company meetings, interaction and socials.
Their solution has seen widespread adoption by both consumers and companies (B2C/B2B) and in turn is driving their need for more talent. Their specialist product has been created through their innovative use of Cloud and Mobile technologies, and as such they are now looking to add an experienced DevOps Engineer to their team.
The DevOps Engineer Role:
Since launching the product-market fit has been exactly right and is rapidly scaling beyond its first few thousand corporate customers.
The DevOps team is responsible for building and maintaining the AWS infrastructure, which is focused around Kubernetes (EKS). Our apps are predominantly Node JS based services, supported by other AWS services such as RDS, SQS, SNS, S3, DynamoDB and more.
You will work closely with backend engineers and the wider engineering team to ensure the platform remains scalable, secure and performant.
What you’ll be doing:
- Overseeing multiple AWS accounts, managed with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- Managing Kubernetes clusters across multiple accounts
- Configuring and developing our monitoring and metrics platform (based on OpsGenie, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo and OpenTelemetry)
- Building and improving CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions, Tekton, ArgoCD)
- Ensuring the security of the platform, using AWS-native tools such as Guard Duty and Inspector, and also Kubernetes-native tools such as Falco
- Advising other engineering teams on best practice for infrastructure components, such as RDS (Postgres), DynamoDB, Redis etc.
- Optimising the platform for cost efficiency
Required Skills and Experience:
- Recent experience managing AWS infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters and key AWS services such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, RDS etc.
- Strong knowledge of containers / Docker, and CI/CD workflows in a Docker / Kubernetes environment
- Agile / scrum based team experience
- Highly confident using version control systems (Git)
- Experienced in working with centralised logging and metrics collections systems
- Experience in building and maintaining scalable, resilient platforms for web applications
- Confident with the various components necessary to deliver performant, scalable and secure web applications (TLS, DNS, CDNs, WAF, load balancing, general networking etc)
