- Description
Decarbonisation and sustainability Consultancy: Bid and Sales Support Officer/ Engineer
Specific tasks will include:
- Accompanying the BD Director on initial visits to clients. Within the company’s step-by-step process these are not merely sales visits: they also provide an opportunity to assess the site for potential projects, leading on to the Step 1 report. A typical initial visit will consist of an exploratory discussion with the client, followed by some hours of site familiarisation. The BD Director’s role whilst on site is to secure new work; the bid co-ordinator’s role is to ensure the work has been correctly scoped and recorded. This is essential in order to enable accurate proposals to be drafted.
- Longer term or if of interest then this role could develop to include supporting the site surveys and reports (sustainable engineering/built environment)
- Liaising with the Ops Team to scope out and price up project work once the client has requested a formal proposal. (Note that this RFP may happen during the initial visit).
- Drafting proposals for projects, prior to review and sign off by the BD and Ops Directors.
- Ensuring required contracts are put in place with the client prior to further progress along the step-by-step process.
- Supporting the BD Director in handing over projects to the Ops Team, once contracts have been signed off by the client.
- Attending project kick-off meetings with the client, when required, in support of the Ops Director.
- In conjunction with the BD Director and Marketing Manager, keeping the client and pipeline database up to date.
- Supporting the Ops Team with internal project-related housekeeping such as correct online filing of project documents and timely submission of invoices.
- Attendance at sales exhibitions and conferences, alongside the BD Director. These occur 3 or 4 times in the year, at present.
Essential Qualities
- Graduate level education ideally within sustainability/renewables technology/renewable energy or engineering
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car (Often sites can be remote)
- Organised and methodical.
- A good grasp of commercial realities and a keen eye for commercial opportunities.
- Energetic and capable of operating on own initiative.
- Logical and organised
- Excellent communications skills, including the ability to write clear documentation
- Competent with IT and fully conversant with common packages such as Microsoft 365.
