EllisKnight are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work for this growing “Purpose Driven” Technology (SaaS) business. Joining this business at a key moment in their growth following a significant round of funding.
The role will join an amazing team and can be based anywhere in the UK to help build an award winning SaaS Solution that is allowing retailers, brands and consumers to communicate social & environmental impact and to understand how ethical their supply chain is or whether they are “green-washing” a brand.
They have a London office and are happy for people to work in a hybrid (2-3 days in the office per week) or fully remote way and meet every quarter as a team for 2 days. All applicants must be UK based with full right to work in the UK -No Sponsorship available.
You will define, build and maintain a dynamic and extensible platform that helps businesses gather, evidence and publish supply chain and impact information to create delightful and informative shopper-facing experiences. This includes engineering problems around platform usability, scalability and data flows, working with some of the world’s leading consumer goods brands and retailers.
Talking to our customers, leading on product demos and working with technical counterparts on integration and implementation requirements are important qualities of the role.
What you'll be doing
- Defining and building new features throughout the stack and integrations with blockchain tech and other services
- Our tech stack includes Rails, Preact, Stimulus, Solidity
- We test every commit and strive for effective, sufficient test coverage
- We run 2-week sprints with daily standups, planning, review and retros
- Be involved throughout the product life cycle, from idea generation, design, and prototyping to execution, and shipping
- Provide technical leadership and help influence product strategy: refining the system architecture, helping to define product features, and using best practice to enable the best quality end product.
- Work with customers and the account team where required on product demos, technical integration and implementation
- Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical counterparts to understand our customers' problems and build products that solve them
- Communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to team mates, customers and our wider engaged community of organisations and individuals
- Proactively look for ways to improve our processes, software quality and maintainability
- Continually build on your skillset to apply the best technology to solve a given problem
- More broadly, working with the wider team to meet our quarterly objectives, and collaborating to achieve overarching business goals
What you will need
- Minimum 5 years experience developing software with one or more of the following: Javascript, Ruby, Python
- Customer-facing skills and experience interfacing with technical and non-technical counterparts on product demos, integration and implementation workstreams
- Experience distilling complex product requirements into deliverable features
- Comfortable developing new features or refactoring legacy code as needed, including new technologies and refining effective testing strategies as you go
- Experience designing and architecting scalable, web-based systems that solve real business problems
- Solid understanding of the various architectures and components of modern, scalable web application stacks
- Experience working in lean, iterative ways to create software from the ground up
