Junior Project Manager
As a junior project manager, it will be your role to take the lead on smaller projects and to assist and advise project managers on the management of larger deliveries. This includes being able to coordinate projects, schedules and track progress and results of projects working independently or under direct supervision of a more senior project manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating project plans
  • Monitoring project progress
  • Reporting project results
  • Taking the lead on smaller deliveries
  • Running project progress meetings and maintaining momentum on delivery of tasks required to deliver the outcomes of the project
  • Managing project RAID and escalating where appropriate


Creating project plans
This particular task involves the capability to be able to produce a project plan with all the finer details including potential project costs, time-line of events throughout the projects implementation, individual team members tasks throughout the project and the ultimate end goal. To do this efficiently and to the highest standard it will be the junior project managers job to coordinate between a variety of teams to gather the most accurate information and hold regular project meetings to further develop and finalise a plan.

Monitor project progress
A critical duty in tracking a projects progression whilst closely monitoring the direction each and every project is heading. The responsibility is to ensure projects remain on track, keep within budget, meet deadlines that have been set throughout the projects timeline and develop smoothly. This responsibility includes taking ownership of problem management and knowing when it is suitable to escalate an issue and when it is suitable to resolve it. This would also include running or supporting project progress meetings and the updating and management of RAID logs to ensure they are effectively managed throughout the organisation.

Report project results
Upon completion of a project, it is the responsibility of the junior project manager to independently, or in collaboration with the senior project manager, gather results from the project along with supporting documents in preparation for presenting them to appropriate parties as part of our post implementation review process.

Taking the lead on smaller deliveries
Act as the main project manager for smaller deliveries of typically less than 10 days effort. Creating project documentation and coordinating all activities required in order to deliver the required outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent is usually desirable and preferred.
  • Working towards or completed Project Management certification
  • Background in project management experience also desirable.


Skills and Experience

  • Have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Awareness of project management methodologies such as Agile and Prince2
  • Be fluent in the use of Microsoft products including MSP and MS planner
  • Have industry specific knowledge
  • Comfortable working in an IT focused delivery function
  • Ability to work independently and within a team both internally and externally to the company
